WASHINGTON DC, January 19, 2022 — Young changemakers have announced the second Young People Address the Nation, a national day of action in direct response to President Biden’s first State of the Union.
On March 1st, the same day as the State of the Union, dozens of young people are coordinating Young People Address the Nation: 2022 State of the Union Edition, a massive movement to elevate the voices of young people. The event will include:
- The Youth Response to the State of the Union, a live stream that will take place directly after the State of the Union and will feature dozens of young people across the country
- A social media campaign on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram using #YoungPeopleAddress
Young leaders held the first Young People Address the Nation event on April 20, 2021, which was the 100th-day mark of the Biden-Harris administration. More than 35 youth leaders and 30 youth-serving organizations joined forces to speak out about the key priorities of young people during this pivotal turning point in our country in a one-hour video special.
“Our March 1st Young People Address the Nation event will showcase the power of matching our organizing efforts with narratives. This is a powerful youth-led, intergenerational, and cross-movement space that elevates and centers diverse young people and the priorities that we’re pushing towards,” said Dillon Bernard, Executive Producer of Young People Address the Nation.
